New Zealand - Days 1 & 2

We had a nice dinner with Bruce and Carol on Wednesday evening in Sydney. Thursday morning we flew to Auckland, New Zealand. Spent the night at the Airport Holiday Inn - had a great time. Everyone was friendly, food was great, and I got to do laundry! What more could we ask for.

Early the next morning, it was out to the tracks - we had a 12 hour train trek ahead of us. We took the "Overlander" from Auckland to New Zealand. It was a good trip - long, and the train was crowded. But, still a good way to see part of New Zealand without having to drive.

We saw lots of farmland and some of the mountains in the distance:

My favorite part of the trip were all the lambs. Wish the photos showed them better. Of course, I saw them and said "Aww, how cute." Lou said, "hmmm lamb chops..."
