Back to The Ghan - on to Adelaide

Time to leave Uluru - we flew from Ayers Rock to Alice Springs, then hopped back on The Ghan for an overnight journey to Adelaide. The consensus of most we talked to about the Ghan experience - "Glad we did it, but not something we'd do again" - seems to sum it up :) We did enjoy the first leg from Darwin to Alice Springs more than the second.

The scenery changed from desert scrub to more and more green, with views of the mountains and a glimpse of the ocean. We did miss the brilliant red of the desert.




















We picked up our rental car at the airport, then drove a couple of hours to the Clare Valley, where we'll visit some wineries and relax a bit. We are always amazed that it takes an hour to get out of Adelaide, as there seems to be no highway system!
